I have always been fascinated with the birth process and my journey into birth work did not happen overnight
or by accident.
I worked on completing the nursing prerequisites and volunteered at Chandler Hospital in the Postpartum Depression Support Group. Shortly after, I trained at Southwest institute of healing arts in Swedish and Prenatal massage and Reiki energy work. After experiencing two very different labors and births of my own children, I took a break from school and focused on being a mom while working at a job that helped to contribute to the household. In December 2012, I was gifted the book, Strength Finders 2.0 and my top 5 strengths were listed as, Harmony, Responsibility, Empathy, Input and Consistency. The reason I mention this is because it was an "aha" moment that reminded me that my qualities could be better utilized and it pointed me back to birth! Before jumping into Doula work, I wanted to make sure I had a solid foundation to build from, so I became certified through CAPPA as a Childbirth Educator and taught childbirth classes all over the valley. I felt once I unlocked the door to show my full potential, more opportunities than I could have imagined came my way. I was blessed! The first birth I attended outside of my own, was the most beautiful home birth. I could not have asked for a better introduction to what natural, low intervention, woman led birth looked like. I STARTED ASSISTING FAMILIES AS A DOULA IN 2013 AND AS OF JANUARY 2018, I HAVE ATTENDED OVER 200 BIRTHS. I am experienced in all birth settings (including hospital/cesarean, birth center and home births).
My family and birth work, feed my soul. I am so grateful for my support network that takes care of my children so that I can join my clients in a moments notice. I advocate for women led birth and provide evidenced based information so families can make informed decisions. Connecting families with like minded Midwives/Dr.'s and helping them find the right birth place is also important and directly affects their birth experience. My passion is supporting women through natural minded birth, encouraging and watching them transform into a wiser, stronger and more beautiful version of themselves.

How did I choose my business name?
I often get asked why I came up with the name Cherry Blossom Doula Services. The significance of the cherry blossom tree in the Japanese culture goes back hundreds of years. The cherry blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life. It's a reminder that life is almost overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also tragically short. When the cherry blossom trees bloom for a short time each year in brilliant force, they serve as a visual reminder of how precious and how precarious life is.
To me, Cherry Blossoms are a perfect representation of the prenatal stage and birth process. I love being able to highlight my culture in such a special way!
